8.April Roma Day

International Roma Day

  1. April worldwide Roma events. Be part of it!

(Deutsch)

On April 8th is International Roma Day. This day was selected in 1971 as the date on which to fight against the fascism and racism and for the equality of Roma throughout the world.

Let‘s not forget the persecutions and the genocide of the past. It is against that background discrimination against Roma continues to this day and increases. All over Europe and beyond, right-wing movements are growing. To distract from the fact that they have no solutions for real socio-economic problems, they blame Roma. And succeed. Racist comments by politicians, illegal evictions in Bulgaria, murders in the Ukraine, and deportations from Germany and other countries of the European Union – Roma are nowhere safe. Last year, Salvini sought a census of the Roma – a practice which reminds us of the fascism in the 1930s. These are but a few examples for the situation Roma live in for years.

On 8th of April, Roma from all over the world will rise up against the shift to the right, against oppression and violence and for a world free of racism and fascism. This struggle concerns everyone who wants to live free. For many Roma there is no choice but resistence for the existence.

I to funkcioniše.
